The shoes with the super high heels were around in the late 1800s as shown by numerous fetish drawings. Concrete evidence exists in the form of photos of Parisian singer Mistinguett from the 1940s. These shoes were designed by Andre Perugia, who began designing shoes in 1906. It is unlikely that he invented the stiletto heel, but he is probably the first documented designer of it. Over time stiletto heels became known as somewhat of a common fetish item, as opposed to their ability to significantly increase height. While they were fashionable in an initial wave of popularity in the 1950s, they reached their peak of fashion in the early 1960s, when the toes of the shoes which bore them became as slender and elongated as the stiletto heels themselves. While, they have officially faded from the scene after the Beatles era, they remained popular at the street level, and women refused to give them up even though they were not readily available at mainstream stores. It was Manolo Blahnki who reintroduced Stiletto heels in 1974 and called his version of the stiletto heel the Needle. Amazingly enough, women run special races, called Stiletto races, where they run a marathon in stiletto heels. Glamour magazine sponsored such a race in Germany and these races take place all over the world and particularly in Europe. In fact, this year, 2009, the Ten O Club and the Georgia Gym Dogs are hosting a Stiletto Race to fight against breast cancer at Stegeman Coliseum in Atlanta, Georgia. The Fascination with Stiletto Heels The stiletto heel is still particularly associated with the image of the femme fatale and is considered to be a seductive item of clothing, very sexy, glamorous and often featured in popular culture. Women continue to love them and these days they come in a variety of styles, colors including boots, and especially the very sexy thigh high stiletto heel boots. They give the optical illusion of a longer, slimmer leg, a smaller foot, and a greater overall height. They also significantly alter the wearer's posture and gait, flexing the calf muscles, and making the bust and buttocks more prominent. All in all, the stiletto heel is one hot shoe and it will continue to stand the test of time. The shoes were known for being made of high quality, split vamp leather. In the 1980s, Kaepas came in both low top and high top styles. Most were predominately white, but some styles had three stripes on the sides of them. All Kaepa shoes come with the Kaepa logo printed on them; today's Kaepa logo is two identical right pointing triangles, while the logo in the 1980s was a "K." Kaepa shoes were popular in the 1980s, especially in the state of Texas, where the shoes were manufactured. Kaepa shoes had a popular television commercial campaign in the 1980s, but today the company does comparatively little advertising. Kaepa shoes are now available at a variety of retailers and at the company's online store. It increasingly difficult to find the 1980s version of Kaepa shoes today, but some second hand stores and online auction sites sometimes sell older versions of Kaepa shoes. Today, Kaepa produces volleyball and cheerleading shoes. Kaepa volleyball shoes include reinforced toes and a new, better fit technology that allows the shoes to fit a variety of different foot types. Kaepa volleyball shoes also have a lightweight sole, with gum rubber and traction tread designed specifically for volleyball play. Kaepa's cheerleading shoes come in three categories: competition level shoes, sideline shoes, and junior or pom level shoes. Some styles of Kaepa cheer shoes contain the Kaepa logo cutouts on the sides of the shoes. These cutouts can be filled with different colors of triangles, allowing the wearer to customize the look of the shoes. Women Nike Free Run 3 Gym Red White Reflect Silver Volt,Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful and progressive condition that occurs in the wrist. It is caused by the compression of the median nerve in the wrist. The median nerve runs into the hand starting from the forearm. When it becomes squeezed or pressed at the wrist, its message carrying and receiving ability from the brain gets inhibited. It is not necessary that the whole median nerve be pressed to cause carpal tunnel syndrome. The syndrome is caused when a point on the nerve is pressed. As a result of this compression the nerve does not function properly and causes carpal tunnel syndrome. 1 out of every 100 people is affected by carpal tunnel syndrome at some point in their life. It is commonly caused in the women of the age group of 30 50 years. Carpal tunnel syndrome is also known as Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). Carpal tunnel syndrome is inclusive of the (RSI) related soft tissue injuries. Though there are various possibilities behind the cause of carpal tunnel syndrome, the basic cause is the compression of tunnel walls. As the tunnel walls compress, they put pressure on the median nerve. As the median nerve gets stressed, it causes carpal tunnel syndrome. Congenital predisposition is also a cause of carpal tunnel disorder. In a majority of cases the carpal tunnel is smaller than the normal, which causes the median nerve to stress. The syndrome can develop quickly, if the wrist has been fractured or injured. Rheumatoid Arthritis is also a cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. In some cases repetitive stress induced carpal tunnel strain causes this syndrome. If a person's occupation involves, gripping, typing or digging, the hand gets strained and it directly strains the median nerve. Repetitive wrist and hand action results in the injury and swelling of the subcutaneous tissues. These tissues include muscle, ligament, fascia, sheaths, tendon, blood vessels and peripheral and retinaculum nerve. Due to the small and restricted passage of the tunnel, these swollen tissues can compress together and create concentrated pressure. Carpal tunnel syndrome can also be caused due to some trauma based incidents. These causes include fracture or injury of the wrist or one of the arm bones. Internal hemorrhaging in the wrist leads to formation of hematoma which causes the syndrome. If any one of the carpal bones of the wrist gets dislocated, it leads to carpal syndrome. Obesity is another common cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. Women who take contraceptive pills can also go on to develop this condition. Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome The early symptoms include tingling, numbness and burning in the thumb and the index and middle fingers. People suffering from this syndrome, find it hard to grip things, or make a fist. The symptom grows to a severe pain in the hand and restricts the movement of the hand at all. A person gradually loses his ability to squeeze things. They may even find it very hard to tie their shoe laces and picking things up becomes a challenge. In the worst cases of carpal tunnel syndrome, the patients are unable to differentiate between hot and cold things by touch. Avoiding repetitive and exhaustive activities related to hand movement, is the first instruction for someone suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome. The patient must abstain from such activities in order to give relief to their hand and free the median nerve of pressure. Stretching exercises also helps in treating the syndrome as exercising helps in maintaining blood flow normal in the nerves. Medicines like corticosteroid and prescription based NSAID's can help in relieving the syndrome. If the condition gets worse, there is the option of surgery.

I've forgotten what it's like to go shoe shopping for a new walker because the last time I did it was with odd, and she's 9 now. B's first pair of shoes were tennies that had to fit over her smo's, and finding those is a drastically different experience. Someone please educate me on shoes for new walkers. Baby here just this past week started wobbly cruising around the coffee table and alongside the couches, YAYYY!! Anyhow, she's not yet venturing out on her own but when she does and we go outside, what kind of shoes? Softer, more flexible soles, or harder ones? I don't like the idea of shoes that feel like you're walking on a plank because they have no bend to them, ya know? TIA for the help and I hope everyone's Monday is going well so far! Way to goooo V!!! I'm sure you've really been keeping your mama busy! What does Little D think of V being able to run around the place now vs just crawling? How exciting, D! Picking up a pair of grippy bottomed socks or soft soled shoes is needed for here in the house. Our main level has the dining room, kitchen and living room along with a "hallway" from the entry to the kitchen and that's laminate flooring. It's slippery as heck with socks. Women Nike Free Run 3 Gym Red White Reflect Silver Volt You've been invited to go whitewater rafting, congratulations! What? You're nervous. You can't swim. You don't know what to do. Are you going off waterfalls? Are you fit enough? Are you old enough? Are you young enough? What do you wear? How do you wear it? Do you need special shoes?Don't worry, everyone has these questions. You'll be just fine. On the South Fork of the American River, in Northern California, some 65,000 + people go rafting each and every year. California whitewater rafting is an excellent stop to add to your vacation. If you've been invited, it's great to be cautious but you shouldn't let this stop you from attending the trip. Here are 14 easy steps to make your trip a breeze: RELAX! If you're rafting with a professional company, you're in great hands. They know what they're doing and they know how to get you down a river Go with a can do ATTITUDE. It's alright to be nervous, this is something new, something exciting but don't be a whiny baby. Breathe, listen and enjoy. Rafting has different seasons, what you WEAR depends on the season: SPRING rafting tends to be cooler, you should definitely consult the company you're rafting with but a thin wetsuit may be appropriate. More commonly, wetsuit booties or wool socks with your STRAP on sandals or old tennis shoes (more on foot ware below), shorts, wool sweater, splash jacket or dry top, possible wool cap. (this is all for cooler weather rafting). SUMMER rafting Strap on sandal or old tennis shoes, shorts (you can wear a bathing suit but trunks/shorts are recommended for you're sitting on rubber and bathing suits tend to get moved off the bottom and you end up flashing the people behind you. Hey, we're not judging, this may be your intention but we just wanted to let you know), t shirt, hat and sunglasses. Some companies wear helmets and you may or may not be able to wear a hat while rafting. No matter the season, no matter your skin tone, SUNBLOCK! We like to recommend all natural / biodegradable sunblock as they're learning these are causing problems in ocean reefs, so we might as well keep the river clean, if possible. Some ingredients to avoid: PABA, octinoxate, oxybenzone, 4 methylbenzylidene camphor and the preservative butylparaben. Proper SHOES Shoes must strap to the foot. Crocs and their composite foam ankle strap do not count as they do not bind to the foot. Old tennis shoes are good because you can tie them. Name brand foot ware Teva, Chaco, Keen all make sandals that bind to the foot. Water booties with a sole are fine. No one wants you swimming without your consent but if you do swim you want something on your feet. Trust the GEAR. You'll be wearing top of the line personal floatation devices, in nearly all instances these are Class V coast guard approved flotation devices, the highest rating. The rafts are some of the toughest boats on the water, they're made to commercial standards with commercial quality materials. COMMIT fully to the experience. If you're offered the opportunity to swim a rapid, do it! This is an incredible place to be (the river canyon), you ought to experience everything it has to offer. DON'Ts Don't bring a towel to the river! There's no place on the raft for a towel. One in your car, for a shower after your trip, sure, but not to the trip itself. Don't wear suntan oil. Oil + Skin + Rubber = swimming. Don't consume drugs or alcohol prior to your trip. Your participation is required to get the raft down the river, this can prove difficult if you're under the influence. Alcohol and rafting don't mix. The water is cold, alcohol lowers body temperature, long swims while inebriated are dangerous. Don't bring cigarettes down the river. There are plenty of rafting companies to choose. On the South Fork of the American, 33. Pick someone you feel comfortable. Most all prices are going to be within $10 of each other, so the importance for you, is comfort. Most all will provide a professional trip but there are different attitudes and energies to each company. No, generally there are no WATERFALLS. There are drops but nothing that equates to a waterfall. The boats are made to do what you'll be doing, relax. Yes, chances are you're FIT enough. This is not an olympic paddle crew time trial. You'll be pulling your weight along with 5 or 6 other people. The trips are professionally GUIDED. You'll have a professional, competent guide in the back of the raft controlling the action. AGE, check with the company you're rafting. There are rivers where tighter age ranges do come into play. Finally, don't disqualify yourself based on unfounded PRECONCEPTIONS. You're going to love this adventure. We raft young kids to grandparents, you can do this! Dedicated to the best experiences to be had on the water, Christopher Pyle, guiding since he was 14, brings you Action Whitewater and Youth summer adventure camps.
