"We make 40,000 chapatis plus 100 kg of banana chips a day and have plans to diversify into making jackfruit chips, but the question is of managing all these workloads with limited manpower," said a jail staff. The jail has established a separate section, Taste Factory, to produce the food articles under 'Malabar Freedom' brand, but it is not a really tasty experience for the staff, which have to do additional labour without much recognition. Though it can be argued that the work is done by the prisoners, it needs the supervision of the staff. When the jail was planning to make cakes, the district collector had promised to get an oven with the cooperation of the Food Craft Institute, but the prison kitchen is yet to get it. When the jail was built during the British period, the allotted staff strength was 105 warders and 27 head warders, but the jail atmosphere has changed and it is envisaged to be more of a reformation and rehabilitation centre and it needs to have more staff to realize that goals, they said. Incidentally, nearly 30 of them are in training duty of State Institute of Correctional Administration (Sica), and more than half of the remaining are either appointed on daily wages or via employment exchange. The only relief is that there are 12 special warders appointed to take care of the nearly 40 inmates who are mentally disturbed, they added. "At a time, when we have to think of man management aspects of the jail how do you expect us to make it a reality with this limited strength?" is what they ask. Seattle police said the victim was homeless. They said they don't know if the driver knocked the man to the ground or if he was already on the ground when she ran over him. "We don't even want to say that she hit him," said Jeff Kappel of the Seattle Police Department. An eyewitness said the driver of the car started screaming for help when the man was under her car. "I saw the lady, the driver she goes, 'Help, Help.' I didn't see anything happen. I look under the car, I saw the body dead already with blood come out and I try to help, but I can't," said eyewitness Sean Pauong. Another eyewitness said a group of Seattle police officers who arrived at the scene were able to lift the car and remove the man. Video from Chopper 7 showed medics and police at the scene and crime scene tape surrounding the area. Medics performed CPR but the victim could not be revived. Seattle police said they did not arrest the driver and are still investigating the incident. Sale Cheap Gamma Blue 12s,Air Jordan 9 Black Photo Blue White It's official have now reached the half way mark on my BMO Vancouver Half Marathon training program! As I was headed out along the New Westminster Quay for a short 5K run this morning, it dawned on me. Wow, the time is now going by quite fast! My run along the Fraser River this morning went by quite fast too. As you know from my last run on the Fraser, I love the industrial feel of the river. I also enjoy those lovely glimpses of nature amongst the wide variety of industries that line the banks of the river. New Westminster Quay boardwalk The sights and sounds of the river traffic continuously grabbed my attention as made my way along the river path. I took lots of photos so my time on Starve Run looked very slow when I finished the run, but I am not too concerned about run times at this point. Not me, I can assure you. It's a good time for a thorough review of where I am right now and what I need to do to prepare for my May 5th race day, I thought. I then stopped and looked out at the Fraser River just one more time before returning to the parking lot and my little red car. Understandably, I did not have my detailed training plan committed to memory so I had to wait until I was home until I was able to take a good look at my situation. So here I am in the wee small hours again, writing my blog here in the red leather armchair, taking a good look at my most up to date half marathon training plan. Well, let's start with what I have done thus far. Looking at my original training plan that I put together last December, it looks to me that from a perspective, I am exactly at the halfway point in by training plan. I have completed 216K and have 216K remaining, including the half marathon race on May 5th. Equally important to the number of runs and distance travelled is the fact that I am still running injury free. So as I sit here and study my training runs, I see that I have completed 34 runs to date for a total of 216K since I started my training on Dec 31st of last year. Wow, that's a fair nunber of kilometeres. I'm quite impressed! Let's see, I have been doing 3 to 4 runs a week for the last 10 weeks and during that time, my weekly long run has gone from 5K up to 12K last Friday. I'm happy with that. Actually, I read the marathon section of The Sunday Province last weekend and according to running expert John Stanton of The Running Room, a 12K long run is exactly what I should be doing at this point in my half marathon training. That most reassuring! Fraser River train swing bridge Regarding John Stanton, if you are new to running or need guidance on any aspect of running, I highly recommend John's book 'Running Start to Finish'. It's an excellent source of all things running. It's well written, easy to read and understand and everything in the book makes totally good sense. I bought John book years ago. I have read it several times and still refer to it periodically. Regarding my health, I feel that I am doing well, especially since this has been a tough period for me, both mentally and emotionally, given my father in law Carl's illness and eventual passing at the end of February. New Westminster Quay boardwalk There were many times over the past 2 months when my concussion headaches and tinnitus were so bad that it felt like I was back to square one. But having attended my father in law's beautiful Celebration of Life service was held a week ago, my symptoms seem to be improving with the passing of each day. Through this incredibly difficult time, it really helped being committed to the race and a training plan and having to get out there and just run. Running was often my saviour during this difficult time, as it has been through many other tough times in my life. Running helped me survive the past two months and enabled me to stay physically, mentally and emotionally intact. I sense that I will become wiser, healthier and stronger for the experience. Physically, my body is holding up very well considering the significant increase in weekly mileage. I'm still experiencing some minor pain in my left knee, but I am not overly concerned about it. Anyway, I have always thought that the source of my left knee problem is actually due to my constantly pressing in the clutch in my little red car! As I pondered over the next 2 months of training leading up to the half marathon race, I have decided to modify the plan and cut my original 4/5 runs a week schedule back to 3/4 runs a week, primarily as a precautionary measure, to guard against any knee or leg problems or injuries. So I now plan to run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and also do a 30 minute swim on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and then take the weekends off. I may possibly do the odd 3K run at the weekend if I feel the need. The 2 swims a week will add a cross training element to my plan, and increase my upper body strength and stamina which will likely be a requirement to stay strong during the latter part of the race. At this point in my race plan, I have got 8 more weeks of training, comprised of 24 runs for a total of 216K. My weekly long run will gradually increase to 18K three weeks before the race after which I plan to taper off my weekly milage a fair bit before running the 21K half marathon race on Sunday, May 5th. Well, when I look back at my running, rehabilitation and indeed, my life experiences over the past two months, they have been dramatic and profound. Realistically, given what I have experienced over the past 2 months and what I know of what to come, I fully expect that the next two months leading up to my Vancouver Half Marathon on Sunday, May 5th will equally as dramatic and profound for me. Gamma Blue 12s Ballet flats are a down to earth choice for an autumn bride who is uncomfortable in high heels but would like an optional that is both more formal and season appropriate than sandals. Satin ballet flats can be dyed to match your wedding colors, or you can hot glue gems, beads and satin ribbon to give your shoes extra flair. A wide variety of materials is used to make and decorate ballet flats; choosing flats covered in gold, copper or bronze glitter is a whimsical way to walk down an autumn aisle. Classic and elegant, a pump is the sophisticated high heel choice for a fall wedding. With closed toes and an absence of straps and cut outs, pumps will give you plenty of support and stability so you can put your best foot forward on your walk down the aisle. When purchasing high heels for a wedding, try the shoes on in person whenever possible; if you are standing for the entirety of the ceremony, you will want to choose heels in which you can comfortably stand for an extended period of time. A kitten heel combines the functionality of a flat with the elevated elegance of a heel, and unexpected materials like tweed and suede give a kitten heel some fall flavor. From western to Victorian and all points in between, boots are an unexpected and appropriate shoe choice for autumn brides. Cowboy boots are well suited to weddings that have a rustic country vibe; many manufacturers produce boots with subtle metallic accents in sophisticated colors, perfect for adding a dash of country to your wedding ensemble. For a high necked, lacy Victorian style wedding gown, lace up, high heeled boots in velvet or ultra soft leather would finish a look full of autumnal vintage romance. Embroidery, lace and faux fur trim adds extra glamour to your look. The old adage "Something old, something blue." advises brides to place a coin in their shoes for luck, but autumn brides can incorporate additional autumn symbols to bring extra luck to your wedding. Oak leaves and acorns symbolize courage and marital faith; wheat stands for abundance and good luck. Gluing silk leaves along the counter, which cups the heel, of a high heel pump gives shoes a dramatic autumnal accent, while gluing small acorns or sprigs of wheat to the topline of the toe box is a feminine fall flourish.
