New models of Michael Jordan sneakers are released every one or two years. The XI version of Michael Jordan's sneakers are the same shoes he wore during the championship 1995 season with the Chicago Bulls, and are highly prized among shoe collectors. Their high price and desirability inevitably drives some people to produce cheap knockoffs to make quick money. Although they may seem identical to the naked eye, a little investigative work will help you spot fake Jordan shoes and avoid becoming a victim of bootleggers. Inspect the shoes for synthetic materials such as fake leather and low grade rubber (often used in the soles). Test the sole for its ability to grip the floor. Fake Air Jordan XI shoes will slide on the floor, providing very little traction. Look for poor or uneven stitching, and inconsistencies between the two shoes including placement and shape of the "Jumpman" logo. Real Jordan XI shoes will be a mirror image of one another, while fake pairs tend to have small but noticeable differences between the left and right shoe. It is a genuine belief for any normal person buying a set of golf shoes, that they should be able to deal with a little rain or water. The reality is that many of them simply do not offer, what most people would consider a pretty basic requirement. Imagine spending around $60 on a normal pair of shoes and we found that they leaked and didn't offer that much protection. I think most of us would be pretty upset about that. Believe it or not there are shoes a lot more expensive than that, and a day in the rain or in the snow, can also ruin those. My point here is that the actual price of shoes, and that includes golf shoes, has little or no bearing on their ability to be waterproof. The chances are however that if you buy golfing shoes at the lower end of the price point, then they will be even less likely to keep the water out and away from your feet. Find out below what actually makes a shoe waterproof, and then you will be much better informed as to what shoes will suit you the best. Images: Courtesy of Pixabay and Amazon Construction, Material and After CareThe Ultimate Goal Is Comfort To be honest I never really cared that much about how a golf shoe was actually made. I was far more interested in how they looked and how much they would cost me. The brands do however invest quite a lot of money in Research Development to try and improve, and then promote their footwear. Years ago most shoes were designed to be mainly about the grip they gave you on the course, and how they looked. Thankfully they have now moved way past that, and in today's market, they are really all about comfort. The good looks, their ability to give you a sound footing are more or less taken for granted. The original thinking was that sharp steel spikes implanted into the sole and heel of the shoes were required to allow a secure grip on grass. The spikes would push down into the fairway and as such would allow the golfer to keep their feet firmly in position. That worked of course however they also had the disadvantages of being rather uncomfortable, and especially on the harder drier fairways and rough. Essential to the overall comfort of a shoe is their ability to keep out water and rain. Now, like most handicapped golfers, I will spend more time that I would like in the light rough. That means long grass, and that is usually damp, either from the rain, or from the fairways being watered. That could and will get into your shoes if they are not waterproof, so having the right golf shoes is in my opinion, essential to your overall walking comfort, when out playing a round of golf. Modern shoes are all designed to make sure that your feet stay completely dry. The recommendation is to wear the type of golf shoe that matches the type of shoe you wear every day. As the guy in the video says all of the modern shoes are made to be fully waterproof, so you should opt for comfort. People do prefer different brands and all of the major brands put a lot of money into research and development. That ensures that the latest technology is being used. The days of the old fashioned spiked golf shoe are thankfully now well behind us. Waterproof Golf Shoes for LadiesThe waterproof element is almost a given these days, and style and comfort are what the manufacturers are trying very hard to achieve. For ladies looking good out on the course is in my opinion an important part of the game. I believe that if someone looks good and is confident then they also feel good and play better. Shoes also form a vitally important element of forming all of the basics in an appropriate way. At the end of the day it is the shoes that assure you of a good footing when swinging, have to cover the few miles of the actual course, and also have to deal with being in and out of the rough and tougher obstacles. The thoughts back then was that when taking your swing, your feet had to be well planted. Having a tough metal set of spikes digging into the ground was the method that was used to do that. For certain it worked and was similar in philosophy to metal studs in football boots. Greenkeepers frowned about the use of metal studs and over time the clubs changed the rules and moved to plastic or nylon spikes. The big problem with metal or plastic was that they were generally uncomfortable, and pushed up through the sole of your feet. Walking on anything other than grass could also result on you landing flat and square on your ass! There was little question that the spikes fulfilled the gripping issue. That was where the focus was though, and little thought was really given to what you do most when wearing golf shoes, and that is simply walking. The average length of a golf course is about 6,500 yards. There are 1,760 yards in a mile so on average, a round of golf is a 4 mile walk. Surely the focus of golf manufacturers should be on that side and not on the 50 60 swings we take with our clubs. Thankfully it is now the case. More and more people are moving towards what are known as "spikeless shoes." Low Price Men Nike Free Run 2 Grey White Blue Black,Women Nike Free Run 3 Wolf Grey Prism Blue Volt We were playing outside and LO kept tripping and another mom told me that it meant her shoes were too small (we got them at the end of February and the saleslady said it should last 4 5 months and its not even 2.5 months yet!) I cant feel well thru her shoe when i press it and I just bought her sneakers inthis size as well. Im feeling guilty for buying shoes that she wore twice and now is the next size but how do i even know for sure that they are too small? any tricks? Kmart has shoes that have a guide on the bottom. Three zones, too small, fit and too big. I don't necessarily buy those shoes but use the guide :0) press your child's foot to the bottom of the shoe to see if that size is good. Also, payless has a size chart on most floors. BTW I worked in a shoe department and they don't TRAIN you to measure kid's feet and I would never tell a parent how long they might last. Kids growth through spurts at odd times and slow down too. My son has been in the same size for ages while my dd has outgrown shoes quickly. OH, another way to tell right now is try on sandals! You can see where her toes hit. That should tell you if the sneakers she has are too small or work for now. Mine starts to walk piggon toed. And ya. shoe people are deff not "trained" not even the ones at stride rite. :/ lol one lady told me one thing and I got the wrong size cause she said oh ya htey will fit by summer. ya they didnt fit till way after summer and didnt fit the next summer. I believed her cause she worked at stride rite. No tricks I have a hard time knowing when htye fit and when they dont. Tripping for my kids ususally mean they are too big OR they are too wide or something like that. I worked at a department store in the shoe dept. I was taught to put your thumb between the big toe and the end of the shoe. Any more room than that is too big and any less room is getting too small. That allows for growth. We would never have said when they would fit because kids vary soooo much. I read an article in some parenting magazine about putting your pointer finger in the back of the shoe. If it fits snuggly but not tight it is a good fit. If it can wiggle around then they are too big. Which is a good way to do it for some of those shoes where you can't really tell where their toe is. Men Nike Free Run 2 Grey White Blue Black Just as you should do certain things when you have diabetes, there's also a list of things you should avoid and why. I provide this list reminded of my kids. I asked them to NOT splash water out of the bath tub and of course what ends up happening? Alas, I am comforted only by the fact that most of you are going to be older than they and better able to apply this information of what you should not do and replace it with the positive behavior. Here they are. 1)DON'T go barefoot Whether in your house or out of it, your feet may encounter things on the ground that cause damage, like small plastic toys, bits of glass, nails, or very sharp rocks. (Although you should also keep your floors free of these potentially dangerous bits of things.) Because you may not notice when you step on something like this, (and thus damage your foot as you continue to walk on your injury), you can avoid the problem entirely by wearing shoes (WITH socks) pretty much all the time. Except in bed. Your feet are usually pretty safe there. (Although you can wear socks in bed for warmth.) 2)DON'T put tight things around your legs Foot or leg wear like garters or knee high stockings (or elastics to hold UP the stockings) can reduce circulation to your foot, thus exacerbating your bloodflow problems. Panty girdles, thigh highs, and even sometimes men's socks can also be problematic if the elastic is too tight. This should not be mistaken with physician prescribed compression stockings. 3)DON'T expose feet to extreme heat/cold Again, because of nerve problems, you may not be able to feel when the skin of your foot is too hot or too cold, and thus be unaware when extreme heat or cold causes damage. In order to avoid problems, don't walk on hot pavement, never use a hot water bottle or heating pad on your feet (wear socks instead if your feet are cold), be careful of car heaters on road trips, and don't put ice on your feet if they feel hot. Also, apply sunscreen to your feet to avoid sunburn. 4)DON'T cut corns or calluses yourself If you try to perform "bathroom surgery" on your corns or calluses, you run the risk of cutting too much off, or getting an infection. If you need them removed, your podiatrist is very skilled at taking corns and calluses off. He or she can also instruct you how to work on calluses (the ones that aren't too thick) using pumice stones or emery boards, but only if you promise to follow their instructions carefully. NEVER use medicated callus or corn removers, since these can eat into healthy skin and cause infections. 5)DON'T use commercial foot supports Your podiatrist may wish to prescribe orthotics for your use, but avoid over the counter arch supports or foot pads as you run the risk of them not fitting properly and rubbing a sore in the foot. 6)DON'T smoke Smoking can further reduce your circulation, causing even more complications with healing. Quit smoking as soon as possible to avoid these complications. 7)DON'T drink excessively Just as smoking can further damage your circulation, so alcohol can speed up the damage to your nerves already caused by neuropathy. This increases the likelihood that you'll be unable to detect injury or other problems with your foot. Avoid drinking in excess. 8)DON'T cross your legs Crossing your legs while sitting (or even lying down) can compromise the circulation in your legs and feet. You may look great while doing it, but remember that it's your health that's most important, not your appearance. (Yes. Despite what the fashion industry may tell you.) Warning: The following paragraph is scary to read but is something all patients with diabetes should know. Okay, here it is: Despite your best efforts and the best efforts of your podiatrist, amputation is sometimes necessary in order to curb infection before it spreads to the rest of the limb, or to the body as a whole. Such amputations might be the best way to save the rest of your limb or your life. Your podiatrist will discuss your options with you if this step becomes necessary. Always remember though: amputation is a last step resort. In most cases, it can be prevented by regular screenings with your doctor, proper management of your diabetes, and daily self checks. Early recognition of problems and immediate treatment are essential in preventing serious complications. So, in short, stay on top of your diabetes, and it's much less likely to bowl you over.
